How to organise?
Increasing numbers of students in Dutch secondary vocational education are opting to complete their compulsory work placement abroad. In this way, they acquire international experience, can improve their linguistic skills, learn to extend their own boundaries and increase intercultural awareness.
Generally speaking, an international work placement of this kind lasts between one and four months, and is undertaken in the latter years of the course at the age of 18 to 21 years. It calls for above average motivation; although there are sometimes special funds available for foreign traineeships, the student him or herself is required to bear additional costs.
You too can offer one or more of these highly motivated Dutch trainees a work placement in your business, if you become registered as an 'international work placement company'.
